There has been a Congregational Fellowship in Oakham since 1662. The current Church building opened in 1861. In October 2011 the church held its 150th Anniversary at this site.
It is a busy church, offering a warm welcome to any who wish to join us.
Built in 1861
The Congregational Church is situated in the middle of the High Street. It is a lovely gothic style building which was built in 1861. One of the Deacons who purchased the land on which the Church is built, was Thomas Smith. His great granddaughter still attends the church.
Our Town
Nestled in the Vale of Catmose, in the heart of rural England lies the town of Oakham: the county town of Rutland, England’s smallest county and is a delightful market town boasting its own castle. It remains a requirement that every peer of the realm who passes through must present a horseshoe which is hung in the hall of Oakham Castle.
